Armenian jazz is the synthesis of unique Armenian folk music and jazz whose roots is Tatevik Hovhannissian. The Art of Jazz presented by Arto Tunj Boyadjian is also well spread in Armenia and from time to time concerts of Arto Tunj Boyadjian are being organized together with the group "Navy Band". In "The Jazz Club Malkhas" the visitor can enjoy the jazz interpretation of Armenian instruments. His music is a mirror of the national soul, joyous and tragic.
The Tros Pub and Restaurant is a great place to meet people. Indeed, it is a popular meeting place for pretty girls and handsome boys with shining smiles. Its decor is very flashy, like most bars in town. The beer flows freely every night. This is one of the liveliest places in Yerevan, close to restaurants, if you do not feel the festive spirit.
Opera and Ballet Theater
The building of Opera and Ballet Theater has the form of an amphitheater. The capacity of it’s halls is 1260 seats. In the square in front of the main entrance stand the statues of the poet H. Tumanian and the composer A. Spendiarian.
Sport and Music Complex
The Sport and Music Complex was opened in 1984, on one of the hills of the tsitsernakabert Park. The stairs along the cascade of fountains lead you to the complex reminiscant of a silhouette of a huge bird with open wings. The SMC has 2 halls. The first hall with 5000 seats for sport contests, and the second one is a concert hall with 1300 seats.
The Komitas House of Chamber Music
The opening of the Komitas House of Chamber Music took place in 1978. From the first days of its existance it became the favorite place of the intelligentsia. In this convenient hall with fine acoustics and a seating capacity of 320, chamber instrumental and choir music evenings are held together with concert of organ music, meeting with composers, writers and poets.
G. Sundukian National Academic Theatre
Founded in 1922, the Sundukian National Academic Theatre is the oldest modern theatre in Armenia. The statues of G. Sundukian, the founder of the Armenian school of realistic drama and his literary character Pepo greet patrons as they enter the theatre.
H. Paronyan State Theatre of Musical Comedy
The Paronyan State Theatre of Musical Comedy was established in 1941. Outstanding actors such as Grigoryan, Khachvankyan, Sarian, Danzas, Hamajian, Karagyozian and many others have showcased their talents on the stages of this theatre. Both Armenian as well as European writers comprise the repertoire of this central theatre.
State Marionette Theatre
The State Marionette Theatre was established in 1987. Due to the efforts of talented directors and artists Marukhian, Gamjian, Elbakian, Badalian, and Harutiounian many captivating performances have been performed, such as "Kikos", "The Talking Fish", "The Master and the Servant", "The Meeting of Mice" and "The Girl and the Bear".
H. Tumanyan State Puppet Theatre
The Tumanyan State Puppet Theatre was founded in 1935. The current repertoire of the theatre includes performances for both children and adults. The repertoire consists of: Tumanian's "The Dog and the Cat" and "The Invisible Cock", the Grimm Brothers' "Musicians Against Their Will", Aghayan's "Anahit", Volkov's "Under the Star of Bethlehem", Martirossian's "New Adventures of the Wolf and the Kids", Manarian's "The Dwarf's Song" and "The Three Piglets", Gorky's "The Sparrow", Mouradian's "The Tailless Fox", Pushkin's "The Golden Fish", and Andersen's "Little Ida's Flowers".
The stadium "Hrazdan" is located in the gorge of the river Hrazdan. It was built in 1979 and is planned for 70,000 people.
V. Sargsyan Republican Stadium
The Republican Stadium, located in the heart of the city, was built in the late 1940s. After rebuilding the stadium can accommodate 16,000 spectators and has become compliant with international standards of football.
